Narrative:
During climb out from ZZZ; we got stabilizer trim caution and mach trim caution messages simultaneously. We re-engaged the stabilizer trim and mach trim; but they came back shortly after. We then turned on the autoplt. During leveloff; we got autoplt pitch trim caution message. We disengaged the autoplt then xferred controls the captain's side. We then ran the QRH procedures for all 3 caution messages; but the stabilizer trim would not stay engaged. At this point I was hand flying the aircraft in an out of trim condition at night over the ocean. We advised ATC of the situation; declared an emergency; and told them we need to return to ZZZ. On the way back to ZZZ; we completed all checklists and advised the flight attendant and passenger. The landing and taxi to the gate were uneventful except for having to hold a bit of extra back pressure on the yoke.
