Narrative:

This occurred at half moon bay; ca (haf). I was holding short of runway 30 and there was an aircraft on long final -- he had made an extended downwind to allow the aircraft in front of him land; so he was on about a 2 mi final. I decided to enter the runway after the landing aircraft had cleared the runway; thinking that the inbound aircraft would have enough time to land; however; the incoming aircraft declared a 'go around' as I was about to rotate; which surprised me. I think that his landing speed was greater than I had anticipated; since haf usually accommodates light aircraft and his was a larger plane (type unknown). When I was about 500 ft on the upwind he passed me on the right and executed a right crosswind turn to re-enter the pattern.

Title: A C177 EXPERIENCED AN NMAC AT HAF WHEN HE TOOK OFF WITHOUT ALLOWING PROPER SPACING TO AN ARRIVAL AIRCRAFT WHO EXECUTED A GO-AROUND.

Narrative: THIS OCCURRED AT HALF MOON BAY; CA (HAF). I WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 30 AND THERE WAS AN ACFT ON LONG FINAL -- HE HAD MADE AN EXTENDED DOWNWIND TO ALLOW THE ACFT IN FRONT OF HIM LAND; SO HE WAS ON ABOUT A 2 MI FINAL. I DECIDED TO ENTER THE RWY AFTER THE LNDG ACFT HAD CLRED THE RWY; THINKING THAT THE INBOUND ACFT WOULD HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO LAND; HOWEVER; THE INCOMING ACFT DECLARED A 'GAR' AS I WAS ABOUT TO ROTATE; WHICH SURPRISED ME. I THINK THAT HIS LNDG SPD WAS GREATER THAN I HAD ANTICIPATED; SINCE HAF USUALLY ACCOMMODATES LIGHT ACFT AND HIS WAS A LARGER PLANE (TYPE UNKNOWN). WHEN I WAS ABOUT 500 FT ON THE UPWIND HE PASSED ME ON THE R AND EXECUTED A R XWIND TURN TO RE-ENTER THE PATTERN.
