Narrative:
During taxi in to parking; onboard jumpseater got finger caught in observer seat foot rest and cut off top of finger. Footrest has a spring-loaded scissor mechanism with very sharp edges. Medical personnel were notified and met aircraft. Jumpseater was sent to local hospital to reattach finger.

Title: B757 JUMP SEAT RIDER GETS FINGER CAUGHT IN FOOT REST WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOW IT AND AMPUTATES FINGER TIP.
Narrative: DURING TAXI IN TO PARKING; ONBOARD JUMPSEATER GOT FINGER CAUGHT IN OBSERVER SEAT FOOT REST AND CUT OFF TOP OF FINGER. FOOTREST HAS A SPRING-LOADED SCISSOR MECHANISM WITH VERY SHARP EDGES. MEDICAL PERSONNEL WERE NOTIFIED AND MET ACFT. JUMPSEATER WAS SENT TO LOCAL HOSPITAL TO REATTACH FINGER.
