Narrative:
After 'positive rate; gear up' and requesting pm for engine heat we heard a loud noise and felt aircraft vibration. About 15 seconds later we got an ECAM engine vibration on engine #2. Pulled engine #2 to idle and the vibration and noise stopped. Climbed on top of clouds at 3000 ft. Cleaned up to flaps 1 degree and turned off engine heat. Tried engine #2 at higher power setting then idle and vibration returned. Pulled engine backed to idle and told approach we were returning to field. Switched first officer to PF and I notified flight attendants; passenger and company we were returning to field. First officer flew the approach and we landed without further incident. We elected to leave engine #2 running in idle until on the ground. Total flight time was approximately :15. Landing weight was approximately 144000 pounds. Rate of descent at touchdown was less than 350 FPM. Upon landing we discovered that we had ingested a bird into engine #2. A bird glanced off the radome and was ingested into engine #2.

Title: A319 CAPTAIN REPORTS ENGINE VIBRATION JUST AFTER LIFT OFF. ENGINE IS RETARDED TO IDLE AND FLIGHT RETURNS FOR OVERWEIGHT LANDING. BIRD INGESTION IS FOUND TO BE THE CAUSE.
Narrative: AFTER 'POSITIVE RATE; GEAR UP' AND REQUESTING PM FOR ENG HEAT WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND FELT ACFT VIBRATION. ABOUT 15 SECONDS LATER WE GOT AN ECAM ENG VIBRATION ON ENG #2. PULLED ENG #2 TO IDLE AND THE VIBRATION AND NOISE STOPPED. CLBED ON TOP OF CLOUDS AT 3000 FT. CLEANED UP TO FLAPS 1 DEG AND TURNED OFF ENG HEAT. TRIED ENG #2 AT HIGHER PWR SETTING THEN IDLE AND VIBRATION RETURNED. PULLED ENG BACKED TO IDLE AND TOLD APCH WE WERE RETURNING TO FIELD. SWITCHED FO TO PF AND I NOTIFIED FLT ATTENDANTS; PAX AND COMPANY WE WERE RETURNING TO FIELD. FO FLEW THE APCH AND WE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. WE ELECTED TO LEAVE ENG #2 RUNNING IN IDLE UNTIL ON THE GND. TOTAL FLT TIME WAS APPROX :15. LNDG WT WAS APPROX 144000 LBS. RATE OF DSCNT AT TOUCHDOWN WAS LESS THAN 350 FPM. UPON LNDG WE DISCOVERED THAT WE HAD INGESTED A BIRD INTO ENG #2. A BIRD GLANCED OFF THE RADOME AND WAS INGESTED INTO ENG #2.
