Narrative:

The boss showed early and didn't have time to file an IFR flight plan so decided to go VFR. I asked the other pilot if we were under the houston TCA, he said no. That was my mistake. I took off and climbed V2 plus 10 for noise abatement the other pilot pulled the chart and told me we're under the TCA. By that time I was already on top of the TCA. Instead of going then checking I will check then go. Also keep the boss from hurrying us into bad judgement. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information. Flight crew had a better concept and awareness of needs for VFR flight. Check charts before departure, not when airborne. Don't let the boss' pressures create a lack of professional procedures.
