On final approach captain called airport in sight and took control of aircraft. First officer also looked up and no one was monitoring instruments. Aircraft began gradual descent activating don't sink alert. A go around was initiated and diverted to ZZZ1. Emphasis on crew duties during non-approachs.

Title: A B737-300 CREW CONDUCTED A LOC BC APPROACH WITH A 500 FT CEILING AND 3 MILE VISIBILITY. AT 400 FT THE CAPTAIN TOOK THE AIRCRAFT AND BOTH PILOTS SHIFTED TO OUTSIDE MONITORING ALLOWING A HIGH SINK RATE. A GO-AROUND WAS INITIATED.
