Narrative:
In climb; we noticed that the low pressure vibration indication for engine #1 raised rapidly to the maximum position and remained. We advised ATC and leveled at 14000 ft. We began to run the abnormal engine vibration checklist in aom; which led towards precautionary engine shutdown checklist. We advised ATC that we would be needing to turn back towards ZZZ. We called the flight attendant and they reported that they smelled some burning oil smells in the front of cabin. We declared an emergency with ATC and continued running checklists. The engine indications did not change. We performed a precautionary shutdown of engine #1 according to checklist in aom. We advised dispatch of our problem and intentions via ACARS and made cabin public announcement. We descended into ZZZ and landed single engine with all emergency vehicles in place and ready. Landed softly over weight with no assistance necessary. We performed all necessary checklists and left aircraft to maintenance.

Title: An EMB140 engine Low Pressure Vibration rose rapidly to maximum during climb after takeoff. The flight attendant smelled burning oil. The engine was shut down; an emergency was declared and the aircraft returned to land.
