I contacted phl maintenance for an inoperative #1 engine fire squib. Maintenance wrote up and meled #1 engine fire detector. We departed airport with an improperly meled item inoperative.

Title: Maintenance defers an operational engine fire detector vice the associated bottle squib on a B737NG. Mistake undetected by flight crew prior to subsequent departure.
Narrative: I contacted PHL Maintenance for an Inoperative #1 Engine Fire Squib. Maintenance wrote up and MELed #1 Engine Fire Detector. We departed airport with an improperly MELed item inoperative.
