Narrative:
On arrival to ZZZ I was pilot flying and applied speed brakes to increase our descent rate. My first officer and I observed the aircraft roll into a 35-40 degree right bank due to apparent spoiler failure on the left wing. The aircraft departed the STAR and flew approximately 1.2 NM right off course before we were able to ascertain the cause and restore the aircraft to the proper course. ATC queried us as to our flight path and we relayed the flight control issue; restored the proper flight path and navigation and landed ZZZ without further incidence.
Original NASA ASRS Text
