Narrative:
While executing a visual approach to runway 35 at phl; I noticed a lamp post in a dangerous area. This lamp post is on the runway centerline for runway 35; on very short final. Due to runway 35 being lengthened; this lamp post now could cause a threat. There is little room for error here. I feel it would not take much to hit this lamp post; especially at night; or if the light was burned out. While on the visual approach; we were on a correct glide path using the FMS snowflake as a guide. The snowflake was centered. I can not give an accurate answer as to how close the aircraft was; but it definitely got my attention. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter advised the obstruction in question was not at cemek but on short final between the shoreline of the river and the runway end.
