Narrative:
Approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute after takeoff; a loud crunchy noise occurred. I thought the landing gear had gotten jammed. The captain came on PA and explained engine failure and returning to ZZZ. The landing was perfect. Fire trucks met flight on ground. Supplemental information from acn 826124: we had an uneventful takeoff when shortly into the climb I heard 5 very loud bangs. There was a slight tilt to the right and then stabilized. I observed calm reactions in the cabin. The captain made an announcement to say we had a problem with the right engine and would return to ZZZ. He then said; 'flight attendant's 30 second review is all that is necessary.' I made a 'prepare for landing' PA; walked through the cabin for compliance check. I took my jumpseat. We made a normal landing and taxi to the terminal.
