Narrative:
We pushed back from the gate on our own. The ramp area is not controlled. We taxied to taxiway H4 and held short of taxiway G and attempted to contact ground control for taxi. We tried several times to make contact; but he was busy with another aircraft. While holding short; a large 4 engine widebody airbus was taxiing south on taxiway G approaching taxiway H4. Neither ground control nor the airbus saw that the right wing on airbus was approaching our cockpit. My captain on ground frequency announced 'ground tell airbus to stop; airbus stop; airbus stop.' his wing was about 50 ft from hitting us when he stopped quickly. I question our position about possibly being over the hold short line at taxiway H4. Either way; we should have held well short of taxiway H4. I know with his large wing span; the wing extends well past the taxiway H4 hold short line. It should be moved back or ground control should have control over the ramp area.
