Narrative:

While arriving into houston on the rokit one RNAV arrival; we were at 12;000 ft heading to yaaow. ATC cleared clearance was; 'slow 210 KTS; then descend to 8;000 ft; hobby 12R transition.' the rokit one RNAV arrival was recently posted. It has several points to watch out for. This was the first time we flew the new arrival and we thought we carefully briefed the arrival per fom guidance. The 'landing hobby' routing as stated on the arrival says 'from mrphy via 196 degree track to yaaow; then as depicted to bingl....' after yaaow; we selected bingl in the box. The subsequent controller told us we were going off the arrival and gave us a vector to de-conflict. We said that the previous controller had cleared us 'yaaow then bingl.' he replied 'I don't think so.' we looked at the routing again and realized that the actual routing is very difficult to see. We apologized to ATC. The actual routing does continue directly to the hub VOR then turns 249 degrees to villi; then bingl. You can barely make out the arrow from hub to villi to bingl in a dark aircraft as it is covered by the hub VOR depiction. We corrected and no further action was necessary. A better picture of the routine would be better. There are 7 different 'notes' on this arrival that can easily be missed. We should have communicated more clearly with the first controller prior to putting the routing in the box.

Narrative: While arriving into Houston on the ROKIT ONE RNAV Arrival; we were at 12;000 FT heading to YAAOW.
