Narrative:
Called FSS for airfield advisory while 10 mi east and was told runway 10 was favored. While on downwind the air carrier, which was approaching the field from the north or northwest, called base leg for landing. The air carrier passed in front of me and turned final. I extended my downwind and after the air carrier passed abreast, I started my turn to base. Shortly after I rolled out on final, the air carrier came to a halt about 2/3 of the way down the runway, then turned around and backtaxied straight into me while advising me to go around. I did. Today, 3/thu/88, at XA55 I was airborne in the near vicinity of the airport and observed the same airline and same type airplane taxi onto the preferred runway (28) at midfield and backtaxi straight into 2 landing aircraft forcing them to abandon their apches. I did not hear the air carrier call entering the runway.
