Narrative:
Approaching runway 25L tower advised, 'light transport X cross 35L position 35R, be prepared for immediate departure, traffic 3 mi final.' first officer replied, 'roger, cross the left position and hold 35R, we're ready.' I then stated, 'continue the check,' and we completed the cleared for takeoff checklist as we taxied between the 2 runways. Before entering 35R I cleared the approach path visually to ensure there was adequate sep for departure. Approximately 1 min elapsed while we held in position while waiting for the previous arrival to clear the runway. The previous arrival missed the first high speed and was a little slow clearing the second high speed. Tower then stated, 'light transport X, clear the runway, you were not cleared onto the runway,' to which I responded, 'is that for light transport X? We were cleared into position,' to which tower responded, 'ah, yes, light transport X clear the runway. No you weren't sir,' to which I responded, 'light transport clearing, mark the tape.' the tower then stated, 'air carrier Y go around, runway heading, 3000', contact departure 118.25, light transport X hold your position.' my first officer then stated, 'light transport X holding.' 2 mins elapsed and we were then cleared for the takeoff and I again stated, 'light transport X cleared for takeoff, please mark the tape so I can review it later.' tower acknowledged and sent us to departure at XA35. When time permitted I relayed the incident to my dispatcher who recorded my dissertation and I requested the cvr tape pulled upon my return (I had pulled the circuit breaker). Maintenance advised that the cvr was a sealed unit and could not be pulled, so I reset the circuit breaker.

Title: LTT TAXIED INTO POSITION AND HOLD ON RWY. TWR SAID WASN'T CLEARED ONTO RWY AND SENT AN ACR ON FINAL AROUND.
Narrative: APCHING RWY 25L TWR ADVISED, 'LTT X CROSS 35L POS 35R, BE PREPARED FOR IMMEDIATE DEP, TFC 3 MI FINAL.' F/O REPLIED, 'ROGER, CROSS THE LEFT POS AND HOLD 35R, WE'RE READY.' I THEN STATED, 'CONTINUE THE CHK,' AND WE COMPLETED THE CLRED FOR TKOF CHKLIST AS WE TAXIED BTWN THE 2 RWYS. BEFORE ENTERING 35R I CLRED THE APCH PATH VISUALLY TO ENSURE THERE WAS ADEQUATE SEP FOR DEP. APPROX 1 MIN ELAPSED WHILE WE HELD IN POS WHILE WAITING FOR THE PREVIOUS ARR TO CLR THE RWY. THE PREVIOUS ARR MISSED THE FIRST HIGH SPD AND WAS A LITTLE SLOW CLRING THE SECOND HIGH SPD. TWR THEN STATED, 'LTT X, CLR THE RWY, YOU WERE NOT CLRED ONTO THE RWY,' TO WHICH I RESPONDED, 'IS THAT FOR LTT X? WE WERE CLRED INTO POS,' TO WHICH TWR RESPONDED, 'AH, YES, LTT X CLR THE RWY. NO YOU WEREN'T SIR,' TO WHICH I RESPONDED, 'LTT CLRING, MARK THE TAPE.' THE TWR THEN STATED, 'ACR Y GO AROUND, RWY HDG, 3000', CONTACT DEP 118.25, LTT X HOLD YOUR POS.' MY F/O THEN STATED, 'LTT X HOLDING.' 2 MINS ELAPSED AND WE WERE THEN CLRED FOR THE TKOF AND I AGAIN STATED, 'LTT X CLRED FOR TKOF, PLEASE MARK THE TAPE SO I CAN REVIEW IT LATER.' TWR ACKNOWLEDGED AND SENT US TO DEP AT XA35. WHEN TIME PERMITTED I RELAYED THE INCIDENT TO MY DISPATCHER WHO RECORDED MY DISSERTATION AND I REQUESTED THE CVR TAPE PULLED UPON MY RETURN (I HAD PULLED THE CB). MAINT ADVISED THAT THE CVR WAS A SEALED UNIT AND COULD NOT BE PULLED, SO I RESET THE CB.
