Narrative:

Aircraft had a weather radar log and also one prior history with the weather radar. Testing and troubleshooting reference; the amm; showed no faults or defects. After talking to other mechanics we decided that replacing the radar dish plate would be the best course of action. The aircraft was parked at the gate and it was nighttime. The MM states that you must remove four waveguide flange bolts before removing the eight ring mount bolts or damage can result. I visually searched for the planar waveguide bolts for sometime and never saw the four mount bolts. I thought that maybe the antenna I was working on didn't have these bolts after the upgrade modification was done to it. I proceeded to remove the eight ring bolts. When I removed the planar from the weather radar mount; I noticed that the waveguide had been torn from the radar.
