Both sets of commercial chart navigation manuals out of date. Called chief pilots office and was directed to fly trip. He said it was ok to fly. We then departed the gate. Trip was uneventful. Chart people did not update the charts. They had at least five days to do so. There needs to be better timely quality control.

Title: An air carrier flight crew was directed by a Chief Pilot to depart the gate and fly with a commercial navigation charts out of date.
Narrative: Both sets of commercial chart navigation manuals out of date. Called Chief Pilots office and was directed to fly trip. He said it was OK to fly. We then departed the gate.
