Narrative:
At FL370; I heard a thud and then started smelling an electrical burning smell; then the flight attendants called the front and said the passengers were choking on the smell. Declared an emergency; went to nearest airport; landed; had the fireman look over the aircraft for smoke then got towed to the gate and deplaned passengers.
