Upon reaching 2500 ft and a reduction in power the engine lost power (quit). Advised ATC of situation. Unable to restart engine and was able to locate a vacant field and landed. No injury to occupants or damage to aircraft. At this time reason or problem causing engine out unknown.

Title: An engine failure caused the pilot of a Maule MT-7 to make a forced landing in a field.
Narrative: Upon reaching 2500 FT and a reduction in power the engine lost power (quit). Advised ATC of situation. Unable to restart engine and was able to locate a vacant field and landed. No injury to occupants or damage to aircraft. At this time reason or problem causing engine out unknown.
