Narrative:

We diverted in cos due to turbulence. When we were fueling to fly back to our original destination a lady started to cry and asked to be let off the aircraft. Other passengers were also asking to be let off the aircraft. I informed the captain of the situation. He was busy talking to the company and seemed to get frustrated with the information. We were parked on the west side of the main terminal and then moved in order to get fuel. We were told that there was no place or personnel that would be able to deplane passengers. The captain then said that the only way the lady would be able to deplane would be if he were to declare the passenger hostile and have her arrested. From the flight attendant's point of view we did not think that would be the best way to handle the situation. After about 15 minutes; the other flight attendant was able to get her to calm down and agree to fly back. The lady stated that she was coming home from a funeral and did not handle flying well. The severe turbulence we encountered really shook her up. All she wanted to do was get home as quickly and safely as possible.
