Signed-off maintenance item in error. .... We were robbing a quick disconnect (line) from spare engine; trying as usual to make on-time departure; robbed disconnect and installed. I signed-off card (stating) installed disconnect. Did not read the whole job card.... I was led to believe that the disconnect was the final fix....

Title: A Lead Mechanic and another Mechanic report on their involvement with an engine driven hydraulic pump (EDP) change on a B747-400. Numerous in-flight write-ups for engine pump temperature indications had occurred after the pump change. Case drain line fitting on pump found still capped-off; without the case drain line connected to pump.
