Narrative:
While reviewing the pre departure clearance before departure; we noticed that the pre departure clearance filed route and our flight plan filed route did not agree at all...they were completely different; however; the pre departure clearance revision section stated 'none'. We contacted clearance delivery; and they stated that the routing on the pre departure clearance was correct. In then talking with dispatch; he stated that our current release 2 was in place due to the new route; apparently requested by a downline ARTCC due to weather. He refiled the new route (the release two route) for a second time; and we then received the correct full route clearance from clearance delivery after a few minutes. We blocked out normally and flew the release two routing as expected. I don't believe I had ever seen a pre departure clearance route and the filed route disagree before that flight. With a pre departure clearance revision section that says 'none'. This can be a subtle trap.
