Narrative:
During initiation of taxi; the ACARS printer jammed; so load closeout was delayed. While my first officer addressed the printer malfunction; the before takeoff checklist was begun by the captain. Those items on the checklist requiring the load closeout information remained open; however with respect to the takeoff power setting; I inadvertently selected climb-2 versus t-off-2 after checking to confirm the ATIS reported temperature was within the prescribed two degrees of the temperature on the tps. I failed to note at the time that the EPR was 1.56 compared to the tps EPR of 1.77. The checklist was completed and the takeoff uneventful. Not until selecting VNAV on the departure did I realize that we made the takeoff in climb-2. I attribute my oversight to the distraction of dealing with an inoperative printer and not waiting to perform the entire takeoff checklist until that issue was fully address and the first officer was focused on the checklist as well.
