Narrative:
We got a message from maintenance control saying that we will not be taking aircraft on the next leg and the plane will not carry revenue passengers until fixed. That we had an engine stall/surge identified by computer. I asked when this had happened; thinking it was sometime during our flight and he replied that the last time it stalled had been 2 days ago. It hadn't been noticed because the engineer that was in charge of checking these items had been out sick for the last 2 days; and there was not a replacement for him during this time. This happened 2:20 hours into flight; so we continued to destination and landed.
