Narrative:
We were being pushed back from gate and the ramp is uncontrolled. Tug operator pushed us on taxiway 'a' as I noticed they were going on a taxiway; I contacted ground and he seemed a little upset that 'your company has been doing that a lot lately. Someone has to tell them to stop pushing onto taxiway alpha' he lined us up on the centerline of the taxiway so it was not like we were just over the line. We informed the tug operator that they cannot push onto a taxiway and he stated they do it all of the time. I think we tell the station to just push us back on the ramp and we can start the taxi when we contact ground.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: Regional Jet flight crew reports being pushed back at BTV onto Taxiway A when they do not have clearance to do. The ramp is uncontrolled and sufficiently wide to allow pushback without infringing on Taxiway A.
