Narrative:
After a 4L takeoff on the newark 7 departure we leveled off at 2;500 MSL as depicted on the SID. ATC asked our altitude and after our response told us the altitude changed a couple weeks ago to 3;000 MSL and cleared us to 3000. We found the change after reviewing the ewr notams again. I take blame for missing the NOTAM but would like to add that with the tremendous increase in the number of notams issued that it is becoming easier to miss the ones that really count. Can a change like this be generated in the comments section of our flight plans or put at the top of the NOTAM list or highlighted somehow?
