Narrative:
At gate departure; just prior to engine start; captain noticed and brought to my attention that both center fuel pumps were selected on and not inhibited; (both pressurized with only one generator source available; the APU). The captain incorrectly believed that this was normal. During pushback; got very busy; tried to remember my fuel systems review from memory; and incorrectly agreed that only 1 generator source could power both center fuel pumps. After level off in flight; and systems review on my efb; both the captain and I agreed along with discussion in flight with maintenance control; that we should have returned to the gate to have maintenance look over situation.

Title: B757 flight crew noticed that center tank boost pumps are on and not inhibited prior to engine start and assumed it must be normal. Once at cruise altitude the manual was consulted and the pumps should have been inhibited with no engines running.
Narrative: At gate departure; just prior to engine start; Captain noticed and brought to my attention that both center fuel pumps were selected on and not inhibited; (both pressurized with only one generator source available; the APU).
