Narrative:
The approach to cali (clo) can be busy. Adding to the confusion is a discrepancy between the low chart (sa-3) and the area page for the airport. The final filed routing to skcl usually is from ulq (tulsa) to the clo VOR via W3. W3 on the low chart shows a direct route along the airway to clo. However; W3; on the 10-1 page shows routing to pl (palma) NDB; then on to the clo VOR. The ankin departure also depicts W3 emanating from pl to ulq on the departure; W3. The course between the ulq VOR and the pl NDB is just offset from a course directly between ulq and clo. Both the local area chart; the departure and the low chart are current in the list of effective pages for skcl. The clarification needs to be made as to what routing really constitutes W3. P.south.; the low chart (sa-3) depicts the routing ulq-pl-clo as UG438; but as described above; is published as W43 on the area chart. The FMS will load W3 as ulq-clo; which contradicts the area chart.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: The W3 airway between ULQ and CLO is a direct route but the ANKIN ONE ALPH and the airport area charts erroneously depict an NDB PALMA (PL) as part of the airway.
