Upon initiating a go-around; the tail struck the ground. Unsure of the health of the nosewheel; the instructor made a soft field landing; finding the right brake dead when applying brake. Instructor pulled mixture to stop engine and coast to a stop. We were able to coast off the runway and push the aircraft to parking.
