Narrative:
We were given a crossing restriction 100 NM west of ghm VOR at FL350 from FL380. I thought the aircraft would make the restriction after programming the FMC. I think now that VNAV was not armed. Both pilots got involved with seating passengers and communicating with F/as regarding turbulence; but we did not start the descent until ATC called and told us we had missed the crossing restriction. All pilots must monitor the automated functions and make sure that restrictions are met regardless of other distractions.
