Narrative:
Approximately 100 feet above touch down a group of deer proceeded to cross the runway; a go around was initiated. Power was advanced and the gear retracted; the engine started developing power; then suddenly stopped developing power. The mixture control was determined to be still in the lean position. The mixture was advanced as the airplane settled onto the runway. The airplane skidded to a stop approximately 10 feet off the runway surface. One runway light was struck and the airplane was damaged. There was no damage to the pilot and there were no passengers.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A Pilot failed to place the engine fuel mixture control in the rich position prior to landing and the engine did not develop go around power to avoid deer on the runway. As a result the aircraft settled on to the runway gear up.
