Narrative:
Upon arriving at the airplane on the departure gate we were informed the pax in seat 1A had a service animal(cat). The purser told us that one of the flight attendants had stated she is allergic to cats. An inflight supervisor had been called to work with this flight attendant in determining her ability to work with a cat onboard. The supervisor told me that if she elected not to go on her assigned flight she would be issued a warning and possibly disciplined. He then went to the back of the aircraft and informed her of the choices. She decided to work the flight. I was told she thought if she worked in economy it would be far enough away from the cat in first class. Approximately 1 hour into the flight the purser called to tell us she was having a allergic reaction to the cat; including a tightness or swelling in her throat. Medical assistance from the passengers was solicited with a md and a rn volunteering to help. They stabilized her and monitored her for the remainder of the flight.
