Narrative:
During left-hand engine removal; found left-hand engine mounts were installed on right-hand side of aircraft and right-hand engine mounts actually installed on left-hand side of aircraft. Both engine mounts were installed at ZZZZ. The crj-200 had both engines removed while in heavy maintenance; previous to this scheduled engine change. Mounts got physically swapped while in heavy maintenance. Alert records forms were filled out and forwarded to aircraft records department; for correction of mounts to proper position and to have affected mounts removed from aircraft. Suggest better oversight of heavy maintenance activity.
