Narrative:
With ATC clearance from 10000 to 8000', 35 mi southeast of bakersfield, ca at 8500', terrain warning sounded and descent was stopped and a climb started to stop warning. ATC had other traffic at 9000' and we and the other traffic were turned away from each other. Afterwards, we turned back and landed at bfl.

Title: MLG GIVEN DESCENT SOUTHEAST BFL AND GPWS ACTIVATED. FLT CREW PULLED UP AND CAUSED LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION WITH UNKNOWN OPPOSITE DIRECTION TRAFFIC.
Narrative: WITH ATC CLRNC FROM 10000 TO 8000', 35 MI SE OF BAKERSFIELD, CA AT 8500', TERRAIN WARNING SOUNDED AND DSCNT WAS STOPPED AND A CLB STARTED TO STOP WARNING. ATC HAD OTHER TFC AT 9000' AND WE AND THE OTHER TFC WERE TURNED AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. AFTERWARDS, WE TURNED BACK AND LANDED AT BFL.
