Narrative:

Push back; engine start and initial taxi all normal. We received the final weight message enroute to runway for take-off. We then received a message via ACARS from load planning to not taxi pending a positive bag match. We sent a reply that we had already received our final weights. They again replied not to taxi. We then received an ACARS message from our dispatcher to call. Dispatch informed us that we had two containers for hkg and had to return to the gate; which we did. After unloading the hkg canisters and topping off the fuel we received our release 3 flight plan. It was for the exact same weight as release 2 which was for a takeoff weight 1500lbs below max T.O. Weight; so we queried load planning and dispatch for the weight of the removed canisters to see if we had previously taxied over our max allowable taxi weight. We had; so an over weight inspection was done and we continued the flight.
