Narrative:

Nexrad has 4 filter settings. 000-240; 240-600; 330-600; 000-600. When the 000-240 setting was used; it showed all weather in the lch; lft; new; lev area. When the filter was changed to 000-600 the weather disappeared. In addition; yesterday the nexrad was not displaying the tops in the vicinity of mob even though aircraft at FL390 were deviating and tops were reported in the area at FL330 and higher. When the 000-240 filter was used; it also displayed weather accurately. The problem is that nexrad is not displaying weather accurately on all filter settings. Recommendation; have a set protocol and accountability for certifying all nexrad weather displays.

Title: ZHU supervisor expressed concern regarding the inaccurate weather information being displayed by NEXRAD on certain settings; suggesting improved protocols to insure accuracy.
