Narrative:
I was acm on air carrier a flight wyz las-iah and observed the following: aircraft involved air carrier a flight dwz, air carrier a flight xyz and air carrier a flight wyz. Flight xyz accepted a clearance from hou center to fly 030 degrees heading FL290. Center confirmed. Approximately 1 min later center issued a clearance to wyz to immediately turn to 030 degrees and descend to FL280. This was followed by a call to xyz to climb to FL310 and turn to 130 degrees immediately. Confusion by controllers on call signs continued after handoff to next controller. Supplemental information from acn 88189: arrs into iah on center frequency. 3 aircraft had similar callsigns all same air carrier, xyz, wyz and dwz. The cugar 4 arrival was not active due humble VOR OTS. Controller workload therefore high during arrival rush. We (xyz) apparently copied heading instructions for wyz. We acknowledged as xyz. Controller didn't catch mistake, issued same heading to us. We felt he simply confirmed first clearance. Few mins later controller told us to turn right, climb to FL310 to avoid potential conflict. Nothing more was talked about on radio.

Title: SIMILAR A/N RESULTED IN WDB TAKING CLRNC FOR SAME COMPANY LGT CAUSING POTENTIAL CONFLICT.
Narrative: I WAS ACM ON ACR A FLT WYZ LAS-IAH AND OBSERVED THE FOLLOWING: ACFT INVOLVED ACR A FLT DWZ, ACR A FLT XYZ AND ACR A FLT WYZ. FLT XYZ ACCEPTED A CLRNC FROM HOU CENTER TO FLY 030 DEGS HDG FL290. CENTER CONFIRMED. APPROX 1 MIN LATER CENTER ISSUED A CLRNC TO WYZ TO IMMEDIATELY TURN TO 030 DEGS AND DSND TO FL280. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A CALL TO XYZ TO CLB TO FL310 AND TURN TO 130 DEGS IMMEDIATELY. CONFUSION BY CTLRS ON CALL SIGNS CONTINUED AFTER HDOF TO NEXT CTLR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 88189: ARRS INTO IAH ON CENTER FREQ. 3 ACFT HAD SIMILAR CALLSIGNS ALL SAME ACR, XYZ, WYZ AND DWZ. THE CUGAR 4 ARR WAS NOT ACTIVE DUE HUMBLE VOR OTS. CTLR WORKLOAD THEREFORE HIGH DURING ARR RUSH. WE (XYZ) APPARENTLY COPIED HDG INSTRUCTIONS FOR WYZ. WE ACKNOWLEDGED AS XYZ. CTLR DIDN'T CATCH MISTAKE, ISSUED SAME HDG TO US. WE FELT HE SIMPLY CONFIRMED FIRST CLRNC. FEW MINS LATER CTLR TOLD US TO TURN RIGHT, CLB TO FL310 TO AVOID POTENTIAL CONFLICT. NOTHING MORE WAS TALKED ABOUT ON RADIO.
