Narrative:

I took off out of lgb airport on a southerly heading, climbed to 5500 MSL and proceeded direct to sli VORTAC. Upon passage, tracked the 058 radial outbnd (while squawking 1200 mode C) and upon visual contact over disneyland began a VFR climb to 7500 MSL. When contacting ontario approach for VFR advisories, I was told to contact los angeles TRACON who claimed I had climbed through the 6000 MSL floor of the los angeles TCA which covers sli VORTAC. I have flown this area for 4 yrs and I am aware of the TCA boundaries. I believe that violations should not be totally based on mode C readouts due to their inaccuracies.

Title: REPORTED TCA PENETRATION DURING CLIMB.

Narrative: I TOOK OFF OUT OF LGB ARPT ON A SOUTHERLY HDG, CLIMBED TO 5500 MSL AND PROCEEDED DIRECT TO SLI VORTAC.
