Narrative:
Upon selecting flaps got no movement so we went through the alternate flap extension procedure (landing with flaps less than position 1) and landed uneventfully. Declared emergency and landed with airport fire and rescue meeting us. Landing was uneventful and taxied to maintenance hanger.

Title: A B737-500 flight crew declared an emergency when the flaps failed to extend as commanded and landed safely with flaps extended less than position one.
Narrative: Upon selecting flaps got no movement so we went through the alternate flap extension procedure (landing with flaps less than position 1) and landed uneventfully. Declared emergency and landed with airport Fire and Rescue meeting us. Landing was uneventful and taxied to Maintenance hanger.
