Narrative:
We pushed back with proper weights from load planning that showed we were legal. While climbing out we received a second set of weights that showed we were a thousand pounds heavier than we thought we were. These came in over the cockpit ACARS printer 19 minutes after liftoff. Why we got corrected weights 19 minutes after liftoff is unknown to me; as this is not a safe way to operate.
