Narrative:
I; the pilot flying; briefed the ORD4 prior to departure per the direction of our company's check airman; which involved reading a textual description of the assigned departure procedure in lieu of using the graphical format. Our commercially produced departure plate did not include the 250K speed restriction. It had been accidentally omitted from the departure. I did not cross-reference the graphical depiction. If either the captain or I had cross-referenced the charts; we would not have busted the speed. We were made aware of the speed restriction by ATC after accelerating to 320 KIAS in the climb. This error could have been avoided if I had cross-referenced the graphical departure procedure; if the captain had also familiarized himself with the procedure; and; if our company used charts with fewer errors.
