Narrative:
In contact with ZID center and cleared to descend to FL240. Needed to be out of FL280 in 1 1/2-2 mins. We made the descent through FL280 on schedule then reduced rate of descent. At about 26300' center requested our altitude and advised to turn to 360 degrees immediately and needed us out of FL250 in 10 seconds. A company flight on same frequency was advised to turn to 180 degrees (and a climb clearance, I think). We got out of FL250 as quickly as humanly possible and I asked where the traffic was. The response was 2-3 O'clock with a range. We looked and saw a company large transport Y above us and probably 3-5 mi away. When we were given the turn to 360 degrees, a second controller's voice took over the communications. I don't think there was ever any possibility of a near miss, but it sounded like a trnee and supervisor situation. We were then cleared direct fwa VOR and turned over to chicago center.

Title: MLG GIVEN DESCENT CLRNC TO FL240 WITH TIME LIMITATION FOR LEAVING FL280. ACFT MADE THAT RESTRICTION AND WAS GIVEN TURN AND FURTHER DESCENT FOR TRAFFIC THAT WAS GIVEN AT 3 O'CLOCK POSITION. CTLR TRAINING IN PROGRESS.
Narrative: IN CONTACT WITH ZID CENTER AND CLRED TO DSND TO FL240. NEEDED TO BE OUT OF FL280 IN 1 1/2-2 MINS. WE MADE THE DSCNT THROUGH FL280 ON SCHEDULE THEN REDUCED RATE OF DSCNT. AT ABOUT 26300' CENTER REQUESTED OUR ALT AND ADVISED TO TURN TO 360 DEGS IMMEDIATELY AND NEEDED US OUT OF FL250 IN 10 SECS. A COMPANY FLT ON SAME FREQ WAS ADVISED TO TURN TO 180 DEGS (AND A CLB CLRNC, I THINK). WE GOT OUT OF FL250 AS QUICKLY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE AND I ASKED WHERE THE TFC WAS. THE RESPONSE WAS 2-3 O'CLOCK WITH A RANGE. WE LOOKED AND SAW A COMPANY LGT Y ABOVE US AND PROBABLY 3-5 MI AWAY. WHEN WE WERE GIVEN THE TURN TO 360 DEGS, A SECOND CTLR'S VOICE TOOK OVER THE COMS. I DON'T THINK THERE WAS EVER ANY POSSIBILITY OF A NEAR MISS, BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE A TRNEE AND SUPVR SITUATION. WE WERE THEN CLRED DIRECT FWA VOR AND TURNED OVER TO CHICAGO CENTER.
