Narrative:
While configuring aircraft for landing; we noticed the amber left flap transit light with a #5 left slat amber on overhead. Declared an emergency and requested vectors while we complied with QRH. After finishing checklist; we landed. Since a flap 15 landing was needed and OAT at airport was around 33C we just sat off the end of the runway for approximately 30 minutes while brakes cooled and then taxied to gate. With a planned arrival fuel load of 6.8; fuel was not a large concern; but would have added an additional problem if planned fuel had been much lower. As it was we arrived at the gate with a fuel of 4.7.
