Narrative:
Flight departed toronto and was climbing to FL350 (heading for eck). Toronto center was climbing us to FL350 at 280 KTS. Clearance received, read back on toronto center 125.77. At london VOR frequency changed cle center 133.87. Check in was made, 'XXX XXX climbing to FL350 speed 280 KTS.' read back by center, 'XXX XXX roger normal speed.' as we were climbing through FL310 center came up and asked, 'XXX XXX, are you level FL310?' I answered, 'negative, climbing to FL350.' copilot leveled off at 31250 and center gave us a turn to 320 degrees (heading at time 270 degrees). Copilot descended to FL310. I reported level to cle center and center cleared us to proceed direct flint VOR spotted medium large transport 10 O'clock about 5-6 mi at FL330.
