Narrative:
TEB6 departure instructs aircraft departing runway 24 to fly runway heading and climb and maintain 1;500 feet. Reaching 1;500 feet; turn to heading 280. At 4.5 DME from the teb VOR; climb and maintain 2;000 feet. We continued to climb after the turn to 280 heading. Contributing factors were the noise abatement procedures (V2+10 to 3;000ft) and an unusually busy period at teb. This could have been prevented by additional briefings of the departure procedure. The departure procedure is confusing with a level-off; followed by a turn; and then another climb. The departure procedure could be simplified by removing the 2;000 feet altitude altogether.
