Narrative:

Base leg to final approach [we received an] EICAS message flaps primary fail. [We] accomplished appropriate non-normal checklist. Informed ATC of flap issue and requested slower airspeed due to increased workload and necessary additional time for flap extension to landing configuration. No adverse aircraft control experienced throughout approach and landing. After landing [we] informed ATC that rescue and fire-fighting equipment and personnel assistance would not be necessary. Normal taxi in and aircraft securing procedures followed.

Title: A B777 EICAS alerted FLAPS PRIMARY FAIL during the final approach preparation. The crew used the secondary flap extension method and a normal landing followed.
