Narrative:
Tmu (traffic management unit) 'quick looked' sector 70 and the radar scope stopped working for approximately 1 minute. This occurrence happened during a heavy traffic period for that sector. Maintenance stated that there was a reset that must not have been complete on that scope is required on a weekly basis; therefore when tmu 'quick looked' the sector the sector went down. Maintenance should have some type of written validation/checklist to make sure these required functions are completed appropriately; so this never occurs again. Have something built-in the system so when tmu quick looks a sector it will never affect the sector being quick looked.
