Narrative:
While departing; just prior to leveling at 5;000 ft; the 'rt eec manual' light illuminated. A short time later I noticed the right itt had increased to red line; when I reduced the power a loud rumbling sound was heard. I declared an emergency; we performed the precautionary engine shutdown checklist and returned to [departure airport]. The engine looked normal during postflight inspection. There were no passengers on board.
