Narrative:
First sna tower does a great job with all aircraft from J3 to commercial fixed wing aircraft and keeping everyone apart. We were cleared visual to runway 19R. Tower was also working a mooney and had them cross mid field over the runway to go to runway 19L -- I looked inside the aircraft to make sure we had completed the checklist. At 500 ft both first officer and I saw a cessna 172 abeam us he overshot runway 19L; the GA runway. We over took the C172 at a rapid pace. He made a turn back to runway 19L. Tower never called the traffic out to us. The TCAS alerted but we thought it was the mooney going over the top of the airport. Both aircraft had a loss of separation. We called sna tower after landing they said they were in a briefing and forgot to call the traffic out landing on runway 19L. Sna is a handful to fly into short runway and lots of mixed traffic. Controllers need to give both GA and airlines traffic a heads up. They do a great job on a daily basis.
