Narrative:
The event happened on the ground at bhb. The airplane was an small aircraft (I was taxiing). I had a plane load of passenger and was ready to backtaxi down the active runway for takeoff. The runway 22 at bhb has a hump in the middle of its 5000' runway and aircraft at one end can't see any aircraft on the runway if they are at the other end. I taxied to the hold short lines and transmitted 'bar harbor traffic, nxxxx would like to back taxi on runway 22, any traffic please advise.' I then waited 5 seconds and then taxied onto the runway. I then transmitted 'bar harbor traffic, north back taxi on 22.' I went approximately 50' (about 5 seconds) when another pilot in the air (who knows me) transmitted, '(my name) get off the runway, air carrier airlines is taking off.' I quickly taxied off the runway and was approximately 100' off the runway when I heard, 'air carrier, we'll abort.' the airliner, an light transport, aborted its takeoff, taxied down to the end of the runway, turned around on runway 4 and called its takeoff xmissions over unicom and departed. I taxied to runway 22 via runway 35 and then departed. Bhb has no txwys and you must back taxi on the active or cross the active I taxi on another runway. I feel this could be a dangerous situation sometime. I would have continued on the active and into the airliner possibly if my friend hadn't told me to get off the runway.

Title: ACR LTT BEGAN TKOF WHILE SMA BACKTAXIING ON RWY.
Narrative: THE EVENT HAPPENED ON THE GND AT BHB. THE AIRPLANE WAS AN SMA (I WAS TAXIING). I HAD A PLANE LOAD OF PAX AND WAS READY TO BACKTAXI DOWN THE ACTIVE RWY FOR TKOF. THE RWY 22 AT BHB HAS A HUMP IN THE MIDDLE OF ITS 5000' RWY AND ACFT AT ONE END CAN'T SEE ANY ACFT ON THE RWY IF THEY ARE AT THE OTHER END. I TAXIED TO THE HOLD SHORT LINES AND XMITTED 'BAR HARBOR TFC, NXXXX WOULD LIKE TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 22, ANY TFC PLEASE ADVISE.' I THEN WAITED 5 SECS AND THEN TAXIED ONTO THE RWY. I THEN XMITTED 'BAR HARBOR TFC, N BACK TAXI ON 22.' I WENT APPROX 50' (ABOUT 5 SECS) WHEN ANOTHER PLT IN THE AIR (WHO KNOWS ME) XMITTED, '(MY NAME) GET OFF THE RWY, ACR AIRLINES IS TAKING OFF.' I QUICKLY TAXIED OFF THE RWY AND WAS APPROX 100' OFF THE RWY WHEN I HEARD, 'ACR, WE'LL ABORT.' THE AIRLINER, AN LTT, ABORTED ITS TKOF, TAXIED DOWN TO THE END OF THE RWY, TURNED AROUND ON RWY 4 AND CALLED ITS TKOF XMISSIONS OVER UNICOM AND DEPARTED. I TAXIED TO RWY 22 VIA RWY 35 AND THEN DEPARTED. BHB HAS NO TXWYS AND YOU MUST BACK TAXI ON THE ACTIVE OR CROSS THE ACTIVE I TAXI ON ANOTHER RWY. I FEEL THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION SOMETIME. I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED ON THE ACTIVE AND INTO THE AIRLINER POSSIBLY IF MY FRIEND HADN'T TOLD ME TO GET OFF THE RWY.
